February 2010 - Case Studies

Leadership & Management
HRE Electives / Diploma in Training and Development
HRE Employment Law
People Management and Development

Since June 2009 the HRE and DTD electives exams have taken a slightly different form. We have made this change following feed back from our External Examiners and students.

The case studies are now available for download as these are no longer being sent out to students. If you are having trouble reading the document please click here.

As before this case study will apply only to part A of the exam. Part A will now be one compulsory question instead of two. This will mean that more time can be spent on the question and allow students to give more breadth and depth in their answer. This question will carry 100 marks.

Part B will remain the same; students will have a choice of two questions from four. This section does not relate to the case study.

The second change is that students will now have two hours to complete the exam and this will enable students to provide broader and deeper answers, offering greater opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and understanding.

General Information

Full details of our exam policy, exam updates and FAQ’s are available on our website, please click here to view the FAQ’s. Candidates are requested to be at the examination centre at least 15 minutes before the start of each exam.  Students who arrive more than 30 minutes after the start of the exam will not be allowed to sit.  Please also bring with you a black pen to write your exam, your CIPD membership card and/or photo ID.

If you require help or assistance during the exams (e.g. Dyslexia or RSI) you will need to let us know by no later than 1 Month before the exam(s). Even if you have sat exams with us before it is important that you contact us prior to each round. We will need written evidence from a Doctor or equivalent (depending on the situation). We can then allow you extra time or the use of a computer to help.  Please be advised that this is usually accommodated at one of our London venues.

If you have already arranged to suspend your studies and should not be sitting these exams, please kindly contact examinations@bpp.com to have your name removed from the register.

Please ensure that your contact address and email address is up to date. Contact student records at StudentRecords@bpp.com to register any changes.

3. CIPD Membership Number:
You must inform us of your individual CIPD Membership Number before the examinations. It is vital that we receive your CIPD number as this number will be written on the front of your exam paper(s). If we do not have your membership number the CIPD can not update your exam results to your records.

4. Important Changes to the PMD Exam Structure
The structure of the PMD exam is changing with effect from the February 2009 exams. If you are intending to re-sit your exam please contact us so that we can ensure that you have the required support to help you understand the new structure.
