Students talkingTypically, practitioners wishing to undertake the PAC route will require five years management experience (three of which should be in HR) to meet the various evidence requirements. Additionally, elements of the experience should relate to strategic HR management and be at a senior level.

Specialists with at least three years experience in a particular area of HR may be able to cover part of the syllabus through PAC in conjunction with a flexible learning route for the remainder of the syllabus. We can advise you on your best choice of route.

In order to gain a better indication of what evidence you will need to provide please check the four fields of the CIPD Professional Development Scheme on the Practitioner Level Standards:

  • Applied Personnel and Development
  • HR and Trainer Electives
  • Leadership and Management
  • People Management and Development

Each field is broken into operational and knowledge indicators and it is the operational indicators for which you are required to provide two pieces of work-based evidence per indicator to demonstrate your competence.

For the specialist and generalist (electives) field you need to choose any four electives from the 15 available which relate best to your role and career. There are additional electives that can be selected from the Advanced Practitioner Standards.
